The purpose of my program is employing modern molecular detection and quantification technologies like digital PCR with the goal of elucidating plant pathogen biology, ecology, management and population dynamics. Recent projects focused on commercial introduction of novel cloud-based disease prediction models for tree fruit, quantitative parameters of survival of fire blight bacterium Erwinia amylovora in fruit tree hosts, identification of Colletotrichum species that cause apple bitter rot, and development of new or improvement existing strategies for disease management. Future projects will explore new hyper-spectral visual tools for efficient disease management options on tree fruit such as apple, pear and peach.
