Our platforms

Our research is based on three platforms:

  1. The SmartFarm Innovation Network® is a community-based agricultural research and communications network throughout Virginia.
  2. Cyberbiosecurity focuses on identifying and reducing the risk of security vulnerabilities.
  3. Data analytics are  essential for understanding the complexity of data that technology is delivering and translating into actionable decisions.

CAIA-Sponsored and CAIA-Related

CAIA Big Event - March 16, 2023 

CAIA’s Big Event is even BIGGER than last year. This year, our emphasis turns outward to explore CAIA’s opportunity to facilitate impactful engagement with stakeholders. The event will feature a morning program, for CAIA Affiliate Faculty, of speakers and panel discussions focused on identifying engagement opportunities. In the afternoon, we will spotlight the work of our graduate students through the inaugural CAIA Graduate Student Poster Presentation Contest. 



Registration and Abstract Submission deadline is March 1, 2023. 

CCI Integrated Security Seminar Series Feb. 6, April 3, and May 1, 9:00-10:00 am

Join in person at the ISERC in Classroom Building (NCB) Room 170 at Virginia Tech or via zoom. Register in advance for the link. Students are welcome. Coffee and connections begin at 8:30 am.

VT Summit on Invasive Species | February 10

The Invasive Species Working Group was recently selected to develop Phase II proposals for the Destination Area 2.0 call. A key step in developing the Phase II proposal is engaging with folks across campus directly or indirectly working on invasives, including you.

The CCI Researcher Showcase is an opportunity for the students to present their ongoing research projects and share their methods and results to date. There will be awards for the top three posters.

AI in Agriculture: Innovation and Discovery to Equitably Meet Producer Needs and Perceptions - April 17-19, 2023 | Orlando, FL

This year's conference will primarily focus on two high priority topics in AI – developing and implementing adoption-ready AI tools and technologies, and socio-economic equity in AI adoption.

CCI Symposium | Richmond, VA | April 17-19

CCI members will share news, celebrate achievements, and discuss research with colleagues during the event at the Omni Richmond Hotel.

We’ll present the second annual CCI Impact Award (nominations are open until Feb. 28) and Student Poster Presentation Award at the event.
