CAIA Testbed: Shenandoah Valley Agricultural Research and Extension Center

The CAIA testbed at the Shenandoah Valley Agricultural Research and Extension Center is available for research, teaching, and extension activities focused on precision monitoring and management of beef cattle. The 16-acre pasture site is equipped with precision animal monitoring equipment and is located near two livestock handling facilities. The site also includes instrumented, 46-animal feeding yard with 4 pens to conduct feeding/finishing studies. The drive from the Blacksburg campus to the Shenandoah Valley AREC is approximately 1.5 hours.
