Boris A. Vinatzer’s research group focuses on fast and sensitive detection of plant disease outbreaks so that they can be contained before turning into epidemics and pandemics. By developing new experimental and bioinformatics tools for sequence-based classification and identification of plant pathogens, Dr. Vinatzer’s group helps protect Virginia, US, and world agriculture from current and emerging diseases.
