Kang Xia

As the Interim Director of CAIA, her responsibilities include: 1) providing leadership to CAIA’s programmatic development and initiatives; 2) managing CAIA funds; 3) supporting CAIA-affiliate faculty in their pursuit of extramural funds; 4) building interdisciplinary community among CAIA-affiliate faculty and graduate students; 5) fostering relationships between CAIA and external stakeholders; 6) providing support for graduate student recruitment and training; and 7) promoting CAIA’s vision and mission.
Research Profile:
My research focuses on multi-scale understanding the environmental occurrence, fate, and impact of anthropogenic organic contaminants in aquatic and soil systems. I bring expertise in trace level organic contaminant analysis of complex environmental matrixes. I am actively engaged in developing undergraduate teaching curriculum that infuses data science into environmental science.
